Bangalore
is an industrial city. The cities of Karnataka are flourishing
fast but at the same time villages are being neglected
from any further development. A few people who live
in the cities enjoy all the governmental assistance.
Hence the villages become automatically poorer and poorer.
A few people control the price of the agricultural products.
And the poor sects are satisfied with the minimum. So
there are many who live under poverty line. Because
of this social imbalance, many of the parents become
either sickly or helpless. A vast majority of the parents
die in early ages. No proper food, medicine or hygiene.
The future generation is under this alarming threat.
Many children run away from homes and take shelter under
bridges, in railway platforms and slums. Many become
unscrupulous criminals, creating a great trouble to
the police and the common person. Who is accountable
to all these happenings or who will find out solution
to resolve these problems? Can we run away from our
social responsibility? We have the mistaken impression
that it is the duty of the government, and the very
rich corporate and business houses to spend for the
well being of these children. Nevertheless, there is
a noble and enlightened thought that no deserving child
should be deprived of the opportunity to have a home
and an education because of the tragedy of his birth
to parents who could not afford to ensure that he has
the opportunities that other children have. So we need
a serious commitment to the problem of the children.
It is from this thought the beautiful dream of SNEHASADAN
came up in 1996. The extending hands of psychological
support and relief from the pain of abandonment will
mould them to come up with beautiful dream about their
lives and society. There are more than 1000 new cases
of parentless children reported in Bangalore itself
every year. Do we let them die abandoned in a corner?
Or do we give means to save these children's a precious
lives? We may not be able to make all the children of
India cared for and educated. However, by doing what
we can for a few of them at least, we make a big difference
in their lives. Our dream is to see Snehasadan become
a bigger institution by our collective efforts. It will
be enable us to continue our support and help to children
of Snehasadan until they are able to join the mainstream
of life.
There were only a few boys in the beginning at Snehasadan.
But after having completed its 10 years of existence
there are thirty children in this house now and we are
proud to say that some of its children have grown up
to respond to the needs of the time. We assist them
in their material, social, intellectual and spiritual
attainments. We teach them not only how to earn an honest
livelihood but also how to live well. As a result, their
Social responsibility is very high, moral state is much
stronger, their human concern is very appreciable and
they are open to all religions. Now many of its inmates
have started leading a decent life in the society.
